About Jen Joseph

JMJ Next was created to support leaders doing meaningful work in complex environments.

Before founding JMJ Next, Jen spent nearly 35 years working to improve health and advance health equity through public health practice, policy, and leadership roles.

In her most recent senior leadership role at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, she helped shape policy and program decisions by integrating diverse stakeholder perspectives while leading teams responsible for national policy initiatives and large-scale investments. These efforts expanded the reach and impact of community health centers serving more than 34 million people nationwide and created greater flexibility within programs and funding structures, enabling local organizations to better meet the needs of their communities.

Throughout her career, Jen has focused on the upstream operational and policy conditions that shape health and well-being for individuals and communities—how systems function, how decisions get made, and how those choices affect real people.

In leadership roles across universities, nonprofits, and government, Jen built and led high-performing, collaborative teams in demanding environments. She is known for her steadiness under pressure and her ability to see the big picture, cut through the noise, and bring people together. Her approach combined systems thinking with a deep understanding of the human impact of decisions and a grounded, collaborative way of working.

Today, she brings this depth of leadership experience into her coaching and advising practice. She partners with leaders whose decisions shape organizations, systems, and communities across a wide range of public and nonprofit settings. Her work creates space for reflection, helping leaders strengthen how they think, decide, and show up in real time so they can move forward with greater clarity, focus, and confidence.

Her coaching practice is supported by training in leadership and performance coaching from Brown University School of Professional Studies and ACT Leadership, the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and Leadership Circle Profile™ (LCP) 360° certification and Broad-based Roots Influencing Team Effectiveness (BRITE™).

She holds degrees in psychology, health education, and community health (BA, MSEd, PhD). Outside of work, she enjoys running, biking, and kayaking; making pottery; volunteering in her community; and spending time with family and friends.
